House Officers Long Term Disability Insruance Program

Without income protection, a disability can mean personal economic hardship to any physician.  A special program has been developed with the GME to provide income protection - Disability Insurance. 

• Monthly benefit is 60% of monthly salary (maximum $4,000 per month)
• Benefit Paid to Age 65
• Resident pays no premium for this coverage
• No enrollment necessary; automatic with entry into training

• Guaranteed Issue - Up to $12,500 per month without evidence of medical insurability
• Own Specialty definition of disability
• No limitation for disabilities due to Mental Disorders or Substance Abuse (MDSA)
• Level premiums guaranteed
• Temporary VISA holders are eligile for this coverage
• HFHS discounts and unisex rates apply for the life of the policy
